The Twilight Saga

My Vampire Love

And so, the story begins with the unsuspecting human girl and the mysterious vampire. Interesting, huh? This is the love story of Isabella Marie Swan or Bella, and Edward Cullen.

I was never really interested with the Twilight series of Stephenie Meyer. I was already drawn into Harry Potter. However, the moment I laid eyes on the poster of Twilight movie and heard all about it from the mouths of every Perpetualite, I began to become interested. Turns out, I would also be a Twilight junkie after all.

I’m not going to tell more than what I am supposed to in this little article. I don’t want to be ripped apart by vampire movie addicts who haven’t read the books yet. Ha ha.

Twilight- So it all started with our Bella coming to Forks. She was the instant celebrity in Forks High School. Then, she caught the eye of the snow-white, drop-dead gorgeous hunk named Edward Cullen. The love story began. Girl finds out boy is a vampire; girl says it doesn’t matter; girl meets boy’s family; girl is in danger; boy saves girl.

I agree that part of Bella’s charm is in her clumsiness. She bumps her head some times, and gets cut when she doesn’t. Particularly, this wakes up the “saving” instinct of guys, making them want to protect her.

New Moon- Edward leaves Bella as soon as he realizes that his very existence puts her life into danger. He leaves with the request that Bella must take care of herself all the time. Devastated, she finds solace in the arms of Jacob Black, with whom she does wild things to keep her soul alive. However, due to a miscommunication, Edward’s life becomes the one in danger. So, Bella goes to Italy with Alice to save the one she loves.

Of all books, this is the one I least loved. It was the period when both Bella and Edward were hurting, almost dying. Of course, how can fate ever separate a love that strong? The man showed how much he loved his girl just by trying to keep her safe. Even if that means leaving her, he still wanted to give her the life she deserves.

I had a copy of Mrs. Meyer’s partial draft of the Midnight Sun, Edward’s version of Twilight. It proved me that Edward’s love for Bella was indeed so great that he wanted to protect her all the time. Lucky Bella.

Eclipse
- Bella’s transformation nears. She agrees to marry Edward for one condition: that they make love while she was still human. Edward senses the danger in this so he refused. Bella becomes in danger once again as vampire newborns led by Victoria try to get to her. Edward and Jacob join forces to protect the girl they both love. In time, Bella had to choose between her best friend and her one true love.

Oh, how difficult it is to choose between two people you both love. I’m sure it broke Bella’s heart to dump the other to have the other. I know how much she wants to keep both men as much as she can, but her good heart can not keep the other one waiting for nothing.

Breaking Dawn- dum dum du-dum. The lovers get married, and go to Isle Esme for their honeymoon. Girl gets pregnant and in danger, but she refuses to harm the half-breed in her womb. During her labor, she almost dies, but Edward saves her with “emergency vampirization”. Renesmee is endangered to die in the hands of the Volturi, and all vampires in league with her family come together to save her.

The story is extraordinary, right? I love the plot. Stephenie Meyer is a genius in her own right.

I love how Edward and Bella love each other. They braved too many dangers that their love becomes impossible to break. It’s either Bella and Edward or no one at all. Their destinies seem to be woven together in such a way that it can never be torn apart. And Renesmee’s existence even bonded them more.

If I were a vampire, I would like to have Edward’s ability to read minds. Creep-tacular, as Jacob says, but certainly useful. Ha ha. Nevertheless, Bella proves to be the strongest in the game, for no one can harm her in her mind. Now I know the reason why the Breaking Dawn cover shows a queen.

I really would like to thank the blogger who gave a link for the ebooks I still keep. The books satisfied my cravings for the Twilight saga.

From here, I would like to give my favorite lines, cheesy or non-cheesy, in the four books:

“So the lion fell in love with the lamb. What a stupid lamb! What a sick masochistic lion!”—Edward and Bella, Twilight

“It’s like you’ve taken half myself with you.”—Edward to Bella, Twilight

“You are my life. You are the only thing it would hurt me to lose.”—Bella to Edward, Twilight

“Happiness. It made the whole dying thing pretty bearable.”—Bella, New Moon

“I wont ever let you down- I promise that you can always count on me.”—Jacob to Bella—New Moon

“Edward’s only human, Bella. He’s going to react like any other boy.”—Angela to Bella

“Sleep, my Bella. Dream happy dreams. You are the only one who has ever touched my heart. It will always be yours. Sleep, my only love.”—Edward to Bella
“I love him. Not because he’s beautiful or because he’s rich !” “I’d much rather he weren’t either one. It would even out the gap between us just a little bit- because he’d still be the most loving and unselfish and brilliant and decent person I’ve ever met. Of course I love him. How hard is that to understand?”—Bella to Jacob

“When I saw how much it was hurting her to make her choose. It’s not usually this difficult to control. I can smother the . . . less civilized feelings I may have for you fairly easily most of the time.”—Edward to Jacob, Eclipse

“Kiss me Jacob. Kiss me, and then come back.”—Bella to Jacob

“You and me. That’s the only thing that matters. The only thing you’re allowed to think about now.”—Bella to Edward, Breaking Dawn

“Looking at you that way, analyzing you as a target. Seeing all the ways I can kill you...”—Edward to Bella, Breaking Dawn

“And then we continued blissfully into this small but perfect piece of our forever.”—Bella, Breaking Dawn

To Stephenie Meyer, congratulations in your success! The Twilight series is a vampire-immortal in the hearts of readers. It will always be my vampire love.

The best things in life for me

I’m a lover of the best things in life: be it free, bought, caught or what. I always love the things that make me happy and I just love having them.

Good Food

Ice cream- I just love those frozen delights. Be they the regular ice cream in cone or the sosyal gelato, I luuurvve them. I particularly love chocolate and strawberry or any flavor with them. I never make “umay”. I always fight for a big dish of ice cream. Ha ha.

French Fries and mojos
- Oh, I love fries. And I love mojos too. I always request them as side dish. I always buy them in fast food restaurants. Dip them in a thousand island dressing and you’re in heaven.

Chocolates- Yes. I am one of the millions of people who love chocolates. I envy Swiss people who get to eat Swiss chocolates all the time. Chocolates are my dreams, and I really don’t care if I get fat because of them. Must try: Cadbury Flake™ (the crumbliest, flakiest milk chocolate in the world; take it easy when you have them, they might crumble and fall, then you might miss some of them), Cadbury Dream™ (nice creamy white chocolate for sweet tooth’s) Monbana Chocolate (individually wrapped bittersweet chocolate with flags on them; you’ll memorize at least ten flags after a chocolate session).

Lechon- suckling pig. But here in the Phils, we have lechon manok. Ha ha. Our lechon is even named as the best pig in the world. A plate of lechon with it’s unique sauce, or a platter of sukang natural with garlic. Ooh, perfect.

Pasta- I love spaghetti and carbonara but I like the latter better. I don’t care about the red sauce rule. I love the creamy sauce. I also love lasagna; Mom and I used to sneak out just to eat lasagna at Greenwich.

Cakes- Sweets. I melt in front of bake shops. Red Ribbon and Goldilocks, the leading shops in the cake industry, have a special place in my heart. I look out for the newest baked goodies in their stores all the time.

Fried things- I love pork chops and fried chicken. Childish it may seem, but they remain as my favorite.

Beef- Braised beef, roast beef, beef caldereta, oh, I love them all. Beef is a very pleasant treat to all carnivore-likes like me. Pork cannot match the tenderness of beef, after all.

Some things to drink- I am in love with soft drinks and other mixes. Must try: Chocolate Blanco by Pan de Manila (milk with a white chocolate feel to eat), Lipton Rosehip Peach (tea with a fruity taste to it).

Mangoes- 100% loved by me! Next to mangoes are apples and peaches.

Chicken tinola- a dish dating back to the old times, it was even mentioned in the El Filibusterismo. I love tinola especially when it is steaming hot. Yum!

Bicol Express- I’m not actually fond of spicy dishes, since I’m weak with chili’s. However, I am very much in love with this Bicolano specialty. Think about the gata and the soft meat.

My Things and Territories

Stuffed toys
- I love my collection of stuffed toys. I’m already 16, but I still want more of them. The oldest in my stuffed toy family is Raccoon. A huggable raccoon (of course) I got when I was about 3 (can’t actually remember), which now has holes in his back. Ha ha.

Pencils- I’m not actually fond of pens. I usually use mechanical pencils because I’m pretty clumsy. My mechanical pens are much more used even than the expensive pens I buy.

Good books- Nothing beats a good book in the comfort of your own room. I am a Harry Potter fanatic and I’ve read the seven books already. I have an e-book library in my computer, and my study room is filled with books, be they references or novels.

Hair accessories- I like wearing my hair long, that’s why I always buy good pony tails and clips. I even had a whole cabinet full of hair clips when I was young.

Pigs and Cats
- I love pig figurines and key chains. I have a pig shaped pillow perched on top of my CPU. I just think they’re lucky. I love cats, too. They’re gentle things that are so dear, but beware of making them angry. They’ll scratch your eyes out.

Winnie the Pooh- I’m not sure if she is a he or if he is a she. But one thing I’m sure of? I love Pooh! Next to Pooh are Hello Kitty, then Piglet and Taz.

Lip gloss- I have a collection. I don’t actually use them; I just keep them in a pink box.

Stationery- I like giving out letters and poems, so why not keep scented paper of reach?

I’m not actually into the most expensive things one can give me. But rest assured, I love only those worth it.

My Queen Mom

Happy Moms' Day to all the moms out there!

I wrote this post because I wanted to show everyone how lucky I am to have a mom like mine.

Mommy is just perfect. she cooks well, sings well, looks good, creates beautiful masterpieces, and is a beauty in her own right. My mom was born on April 1953, and she is growing old with laurels. She graduated college at USJR, BSEEd Major in HE. She said she wanted to be a nurse first, but she continued Educ anyway..

She cooks great. Her dishes are perfect that you might just forget who you are. (okay. So I'm exaggerating.^^) Try her baked goodies and you'll love her. Tastes like heaven..^^

She is a good singer. She was the first in our clan to learn how to play the guitar. Because of her, all of us children have the passion to sing and play. My brother even leads a choir in their seminary! Everytime we travel, we always sing together. Legacy, I guess.

Mom's hand is a fairy's. Whenever she touches my projects, they look better! Promise! She sews my costumes before, and designs them too. When I go to class with the costumes she makes for me, I stand out. She makes pretty things out of scratch. That talent of hers is just.. Haaayyyy...^^

She is also a beauty queen. she went as far as having many manliligaws that she stirred up fights among the boys. Her waistline during those days was 23! Oha. Pretty.

But above all that, the reason why I love her so much is because she never left me. She was a friend, a best friend I could always laugh and cry with. Until now, we still have that kind of relationship. She is the kind of mother na hindi papayag na makagat ng lamok ang anak. She loves us that much that she fight for us all the time, til the end.

See how lucky I am? :)

I love you Mommy. That's forever. ♥♥

Camella:

“Bulilit, bulilit, sanay sa masikip,
Kung kumilos, kumilos, ang liit liit,
Bulilit, kung kumilos, ang liit liit..”

Now, who doesn’t love that little girl who kept on curling like a ball in her big big house, as if she was in a very cramped room? Oh, I just love Cha-cha. Ha ha. Actually, from the first time I saw that commercial for a village, I grew to love it. Not just that girl, but the whole concept of the ad.

I immediately thought of those unfortunate people who get stuck with their pasts. People just get so bitter, that they can’t appreciate what is coming to them. Yeah, pessimists. They become obsessed with the trials that come their way that they want to hide from the sunshine. For example, a man got his heart broken by the woman he loves. Because of this incident, he becomes afraid to love again, not knowing that his real soul mate is already knocking on his door. See the bitterness there?

So, weird enough, I got to this idea after watching the commercial. Moral lesson? Never ever get tired of trying again after falling down. Just keep on doing what you can. Never let failure dampen your spirit. Who knows? You might just find yourself in a bigger house someday. ♥

05/03/09

As of now, there are two things I’m very happy about: one, that the H1N1 influenza A virus hasn’t got into the Philippines yet; and that Manny Pacquiao has won his fight with Ricky Hatton.

After watching the bout, I immediately went upstairs to my computer to write about what I have just witnessed. The memory of Pacman’s victory over Hitman is still fresh in my mind. In two rounds, the two tough men tried to outdo each other with jabs and uppercuts, but apparently, the tougher one survived; and that guy is our very own Pacquiao.

In Round One, both men were still shaky, but Pacquiao decided to reveal his abilities at once. Twice in that round he was able to bring the British one down. And on the second round, with a blow on the jaw, Pacquiao decided to finish it off, and he finished it quite well. I was even a little bit sorry for those who tried Pay-per-views, since the fight only lasted for less than an hour. Ha ha.

Actually, Mom and I have been quite nervous about what the results would be. We have been watching the news all the time and we thought Pacquiao was a little bit distracted, even while playing with his pet dog. Together, we prayed that our predictions weren’t correct. Those prayers paid off.

With this win, Filipinos around the globe became wild, rejoicing in the glory of being Filipinos. We were very happy, too happy, that we even forgot that global problem which is A H1N1 virus.

As everybody knows, it all started with a pig in Mexico having caught human, avian and swine viruses. Theory has it that this was the start of the new virus that scared people around the world and is continuously killing many. The pandemic alert has already been raised to Phase six, which means there is already a global outbreak of a disease. It was before called “swine flu”; but since the virus wasn’t from swine alone, it was called H1N1 Influenza virus A. It would be very difficult to make a vaccine that will immunize people from this, but researchers continue to do there work for the welfare of all.

The virus has come into Asia, into Hong Kong, I think. Fortunately, Philippines hasn’t been affected yet, and we are now exercising maximum efforts just to avoid the virus from getting into our country. The thermal scanner has helped a lot in our security, since an infected person will have fever and other symptoms.

In the April 29 issue of the Philippine Star World, it was said that the death toll in Mexico has risen to more than a hundred. Spain has become the first country in Europe to confirm a case of swine flu. Texas had six cases, California has eleven. Canada has six mild cases. However, countries are also exercising the same security measures we have, checking airline passengers for flu symptoms and having people wear masks for safety.

My dad told me once when we were watching the daily news that “galit na galit ata ang Diyos ngayon.” Yes, God maybe telling us to repent this time. People are just so scared that pork vendors lost some of their money, since people refrained from buying pork. Our government officials have already announced that Philippine pork is safe. However, we Filipinos want to be safe.

So, I guess we just have to pray harder. Pray and thank God for Pacquiao’s victory in bringing the Filipino people together again. Pray and ask for God’s help in making us safe from the virus that strikes down the world.

Maybe He’ll spare us.
